Yahoo Movies wrote on how 2014 was the year that black female filmmakers were finally given their chance to shine, led by Amma.
Figures released showed that just 21 of the 250 films released in the calendar year were directed by females – a minuscule 8.4% – and that just three of those were from black female directors. However, Yahoo conclude that despite such numbers, the box office success of directors like Amma is finally helping pave the way.
